Hi, you are listening to My Body My Story podcast,
Oh, verse he has actually helped me be more focused on my spiritual wellness and not so much for my material wellness.
This is the 45 or 45 chapter where we celebrate rule breakers and role models, the women who inspire us to live life our way and to show that sensuality, beauty, soul and true essence. Here we talk about what it's like to be 45 Plus, adjusting to the changes that come with time, and will listen to the stories of our participants. Hi, Jade, welcome to our studio and welcome to a project 45 over 45. And while you sitting in makeup chair, Tanya is doing makeup for you. I'll be interviewing interviewing you for our podcast. And tell us a bit about yourself.
So I moved to Australia when I was 16. I'm originally from New Zealand and I love to travel and I'm usually on a plane every three months. So the past two years have been quite challenging. Should I say my motto in life I like to think my journey my dream and recently just become a little bit more spiritual. And I think that was because we were stuck in Sydney for solar. I'm happily married, been married for 10 years, and I have three beautiful children and but are adults and living their own dreams. My oldest is 25. And then I have a 22 year old and my youngest is gonna be 20 next month. So other than that I've worked for local government for most of my life, 1520 years. And just last year, I put my own business.
Oh, that's nice. So what are you most passionate about? What is your business about?
Oh, so my business is actually about self care. So I own a ecommerce gift hamper store. And I focus on well being organic, sustainable products and allowing people to, you know, relax at home. So a lot of self care, wellness type gift packages, gratitude journals, and just trying to get yourself to that space.
That's interesting. And what's the name of this shop and where people can find you.
Oh, okay, so my shop is called gift therapy. And you can find me on my website at www.gifttherapy.com.au.
Excellent. So is that your passion or you have any other passions?
It's actually my passion. I suffered from anxiety about five years ago. And going through that mental health issue. I came out the other side wanting to help people just to It's so stressful in our urban lives. And people tend to forget, we're always on the run here in Sydney. So it was just been brilliant, a bit as a calm and that southcare back and knowing that you're the most important person.
Yeah. So everyone knows that with h, we change. But what positive changes have you experienced with this age?
This age is actually helped me be more focused on my spiritual wellness, and not so much for my material wellness. finances have become secondary, which is why I left my job and just started my journey on taking care of myself and connecting with others. Yeah.
What is the biggest challenge you're experiencing at this age?
Oh, I think that I am enough that I don't really need to strive and let other people's opinions or create it's their opinion and not to take that personally. Listen to what other people's journeys and stories are because you could miss out the beauty of the word if you just don't open yourself up to all of these lovely people in this world. So yeah, it used to be a lot of self centred when I was in my 20s. So that's my biggest change at this age.
And what is the biggest challenge?
Having no expectations of other people? That's a big challenge or no preconceptions around life and just enjoying every bit of it. So that's been my biggest challenge. You know, you always expect your husband to be home on time, or why didn't you buy me a coffee? I knew I wanted coffee. So I'm actually just enjoying those moments now. And if I don't get a coffee, oh, well, I'm just. Yeah, I'm just glad you're home. Thank you for coming home. Said say sorts of things.
And what is your greatest accomplishment?
Oh, I don't think I'm there. That's a good one. I don't really think I'm there yet. I just want to be here. I think it's just about self awareness and growing within yourself, and to stand in joy and temperance, and all these lovely things, and defend by those sorts of values and adjusting and being calm and not so excited or brash. So when I accomplish that, which is a lifelong journey, I think that will be my biggest accomplishment.
The life itself. Yeah. If you could go back and meet your 30 year old self, what advice would you give your 30 year old self?
Oh? Okay. Yeah. Be humble. And treasure every moment in your train? I would. There are times I've lived some amazing stories and complained, because it was too hot. I'm in Bali, I think it's gonna be a little hot. So, you know, just understanding and being humble and appreciating that would be yet.
And what would what advice would you give to younger women who will eventually reach this age and undergo these changes? What would you say to them?
It's gonna sound a little bit, but it is, I'd say to manifest your dreams. So meditate, ready to get there? Within yourself? And work smart, not hard. And enjoy life?
That's good. Where do you think the idea of perfect body image comes from?
I'm gonna put that on myself. I watch ads. I see beautiful ladies and magazines. And I say the perception is not over only. And that commercialization. But if you take that perception of beauty, art, and then that your perceive beauty is beauty is what you see. And it can come in many shapes and sizes. And someone can have the most beautiful blue eyes if you just look or a beautiful straight line to their nose or anything. So I really think it's ourselves and that we really have to look at ourselves and what we think is beautiful in the world. And look at that comparison. Just take that beauty for yourself.
And what does it mean to you feeling good and looking good? What do you think comes first?
Always feeling good. Emotion. If we really think about it, our emotion runs our lives. So just thought of something that pay for your paved straightaway. So always think about beautiful moments and calming thoughts and visualise those and you'll notice your emotion just go see its effect of thinking. So definitely emotion first.
And what makes you feel the most beautiful?
I think I feel the most beautiful when I'm confident I am in a good place within myself, really within myself. And I have taken the effort and done my best to look nice for that moment.
Was it always like that when you were young?
I was in front of a mirror until I was 25. I had a baby at 21 and I was still doing my makeup while I was breastfeeding. So never. It's as I've grown older and sign up in the last couple of years I've had that mentality.
Do you have any favourite quotes about being a woman?
I know there was this beautiful quote that I just thought was gorgeous – “She woke up every morning with the option of being anyone she wished. How beautiful it is that she always chose herself.” So that was from Tyler Candlelight. And I thought that was just a beautiful woman clothes.
Thank you Jade. Thank you very much for sharing your wisdom and answering our questions and hope you will enjoy our photoshoot.
